Tony's Tales, The Manager Speaks

Tony's Tales, latest from the Manager [8 Nov @ 4:55pm]

WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE OAKSIDE STADIUM FOR TODAYS GAME AGAINST OUR OLD FRIENDS FROM BARKING AND THEIR MANAGER STEVE MUNDAY WHO IS AN OLD FRIEND OF MINE. WELL ANOTHER COUPLE OF WINS SINCE MY LAST NOTES,THAT WITHOUT MEANING TO SOUND OVER CONFIDENT SHOULD BOTH HAVE BEEN MORE CONVINCING THAN THEY WERE. WHAT AMIN AND MYSELF ARE TRYING TO PREACH TO THE PLAYERS IS NOW STARTING TO SINK IN AND BELIEVE ME WE ARE VERY VERY CRITICAL AND HARD TO PLEASE BECAUSE WE DEMAND THE BEST AT ALL TIMES BUT BELIEVE ME WE HAVE A GOOD SQUAD OF PLAYERS BOTH IN TERMS OF ATTITUDE AND ALSO ABILITY. JULIAN ASHBY HAS UNFORTUNATELY LEFT US TO JOIN OUR LANDLORDS, BECAUSE HE WANTS TO REMAIN IN THE RYMAN LEAGUE THAT IS THE ONLY REASON SO DONT READ TO MUCH INTO THAT. WE ARE NOW COMING INTO A GOOD VAIN OF FORM AND BELIEVE ME WE HAVE PLENTY LEFT IN OUR TANK, I WANT THAT TITLE AND I BELIEVE WE ARE BETTER EQUIPPED THAN EVER ON AND OFF THE PITCH TO ACHIEVE IT THIS SEASON. WE HAVE THREE VERY TOUGH AWAY GAMES AFTER TODAYS EQUALLY HARD GAME,HULLBRIDGE, STANSTED AND BETHNAL GREEN IN WHAT WILL BE A VERY TOUGH AND TESTING WEEK FOR THE SIDE WHERE WE WILL REALLY SEE IF WE ARE UP FOR THE FIGHT. I KNOW SOME OF YOU MAY BE WONDERING WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO NICKY WETTNER, WELL HE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED TO THE END OF JANUARY WHICH IS UNFORTUNATE BUT THE LAD EXCEPTS THE PUNISHMENT AND HE IS STILL A VERY VERY IMPORTANT PART OF MY PLANS AND THANKFULLY THE CHAIRMAN UNDERSTANDS WHY I WANT HIM TO REMAIN AT THE CLUB AND HE WANTS HIM TO REMAIN PART OF THIS CLUB AS WELL, WHILST WE DONT CONDONE WHAT HAPPENED, WE BOTH UNDERSTAND THAT THESE THINGS HAPPEN AT TIMES BUT NICKY IS A GOOD PLAYER.LETS HOPE WE HAVE A GOOD CROWD TODAY WE REALLY APPRECIATE THE GATES WE HAVE BEEN GETTING WE HOPE YOU ARE PLEASED WITH WHAT YOU ARE BEING SERVED UP SO FAR. THANKS FOR COMING FENNY.

Tony's Tales - Bowers & Pitsea Programme Notes [16 Aug @ 5:35pm]

Hi and welcome one and all to Oakside for our first home game of the season and the start of our F.A.cup campaign against Bowers & Pitsea our old friends who we played in the vase last season. Well the have certainly been some changes since the last time I wrote notes for the programme on and off the pitch, I will let Jim tell you about the changes off the pitch elsewhere in the programme. Well it all started with us winning the League cup at Southend Manor on may day bank holiday, what a great way to end the season and I would like to thank all the players connected with the club who are here now still and those that moved on for all their efforts that day. It was one of my proudest days in football and was just reward for all those people connected with the club who put in the many hours of hard dedication that they do to make sure everything at the club runs smoothly. Then during the close season a number of the squad decided to move onto pastures new along with my two coaches deciding they needed a fresh challenge. Once again I would like to thank them all for the hard work they put in last season. That left us three weeks to assemble a new squad which along with my new assistant and long term friend Eamon Levitt we have managed to do. Without meaning to sound disrespectful to anyone here last season I think the squad we have assembled is much stronger in terms of ability and obviously strength in depth. So we faced Southend Manor away last Saturday in our first game of the current campaign and nicked a 1-1 draw, which considering we played the last 30 mins with 10 men because of injuries I was pleased with and lets not forget they are a tough side to play at home and did finish fourth last season. So now back to todays game a lets hope we have a big turnout today with many locals and groundhoppers coming to Oakside to see what should be a very entertaining game we hope. We aim this season to try and entertain you as much as possible but my main aim is simple I want that title no ifs no buts that’s my aim, why not come along for the ride this season and try to encourage a few friends etc to come and sample the Oakside experience, enjoy todays game thanks for coming. FENNY
